The Bihar Public Service Commission now uses one-time registration (OTR) on its new portal, bpsconline.bihar.gov.in. As per the advertisement of the Integrated 72nd Combined (Preliminary) Competitive Examination (May 2026), the photo is captured live through the webcam while applying, and you upload scanned images of your Hindi and English signatures.
The advertisement says the Hindi and English signature images must be in .jpg/.jpeg format, of maximum 15 KB size and 220 × 100 pixel dimension, clear and legible. Certificates and documents are uploaded as PDFs of up to 100 KB each. (An older BPSC portal user manual mentioned a different signature size; the 2026 advertisement is newer, so this page follows it.)
For the live photo, keep a white or light-coloured background and enough light. The user manual adds: face straight towards the webcam with eyes open, and no cap, power glasses, sunglasses, mask, muffler or helmet, with no other person in the frame.
How to resize your BPSC photo and signature
- On white paper, sign once in Hindi and once in English, separately, with a black pen.
- Hindi sign tab: tap "Choose signature photo", pick the photo, and keep only the Hindi signature in the frame (drag/zoom). Tap "Download JPG".
- English sign tab: choose the same photo, keep only the English signature in the frame, and download.
- Check that each file shows 220 × 100 px and under 15 KB, then upload them on the BPSC portal.
- Capture the live photo in good light against a white or light wall.
Common mistakes that get the form rejected
- Signature file above 15 KB, or a different pixel size from 220 × 100.
- Uploading one image with both signatures when each box asks for one.
- Wearing spectacles, cap or mask during the live photo, or another person visible.
- Faint signature (pencil or light ink) that becomes unreadable at 220 × 100 px.
