The Bihar Staff Selection Commission (BSSC) published photo guidelines with its Inter Level Combined Competitive Exam (Adv. No. 02/23). The photo must be a recent colour passport-style photo, 3.5 cm wide and 4.5 cm high, in JPG format only, between 20 KB and 50 KB, with a white or light-coloured background, in formal dress.

The face must cover 60% to 70% of the photo, and the forehead, eyes, nose and chin must be visible, with both ears visible. No cap or hat, and no dark or tinted glasses. BSSC's sample rejections include photos smaller than 35 × 45 mm, side view, dark background, face covered with a mask, and blurred photos. Poor-quality photos can lead to rejection without refund of the fee.

For the signature, the BSSC advertisement says you upload a scanned Hindi and English signature, but it does not state a KB or pixel limit, so we have not preset one. Use the limit shown on the BSSC upload page. The tool above is for the photo.

How to resize your BSSC photo

1. Wear formal clothes and take a photo in front of a white or light wall, with good light on your face.
2. Tap "Choose photo" and pick it. Zoom so your face covers about 60–70% of the frame with both ears visible.
3. Tap "Download JPG". The size shown will be 3.5 × 4.5 cm and between 20 and 50 KB.
4. Upload it in the BSSC form. For the signature, follow the size shown on the portal.
